The news: Ant Group-owned Alibaba will let users make payments through rival Tencent’s WeChat Pay on its core ecommerce sites, Taobao and Tmall, per CNBC.

  • The sites previously limited payment options to push shoppers to Ant Group-owned Alipay.
  • Alibaba is trying to reinvigorate slowing growth on these sites and to appease regulators.
