The trend: Americans blame health insurers, followed closely by pharma companies, for US healthcare woes, according to a recent eHealth survey. The survey queried more than 1,000 US adults in late February. Two-thirds (66%) named insurers and 60% named pharma or drug costs as the reasons for the current just-average state of the system.

• Another 42% blamed politicians, and 23% pointed to healthcare providers.
• 72% of US adults surveyed gave the US healthcare system a C grade or lower.
• Only 9% gave it an A, boosted by 41% of Medicare recipients who awarded an A or B compared to only 22% of people with commercial insurance.
