The news: Novo Nordisk is making its discounted Wegovy offering available to more consumers. Cash-paying patients can now get the GLP-1 medication for $499 per month at their local retail pharmacy. This offer was recently made available only for patients using Novo’s newly launched D2C online pharmacy.

Why it matters: Novo and GLP-1 drugmaker rival Eli Lilly are slashing the prices of their weight loss drugs to ward off competition from Hims & Hers and others that sell compounded GLP-1s directly to consumers for around $200/month.
