The news: OpenAI launched GPT-4.5, its biggest large language model (LLM) to date and its last non-chain-of-thought model.

The new product is giant, thoughtful, and expensive. Its inputs costs 30 times more than its GPT-4o predecessor and 25 times more than Anthropic’s Claude 3.7 Sonnet.

  • Access is currently limited to OpenAI’s $200/month Pro subscribers for one notable reason: OpenAI is out of GPUs. CEO Sam Altman said GPT-4.5 will roll out to Plus users next week once more GPUs are added.
