The news: Apple’s iOS 26 update will let users store passports as Digital IDs in the Wallet app. 

• Passport integrations for Digital ID will only be initially available for iPhone users. (Driver's licenses are also available on Apple Watch.)
• Users will be able to present their Digital ID passport for domestic travel and at select TSA checkpoints as a valid form of ID.
• With iOS 26, Digital IDs—including state IDs—can also be used for age and identity verification for websites.

Building out Digital ID: Apple’s initial rollout for Digital ID was just for driver's licenses. 

At present, only 10 US states and territories support Wallet integration, but 10 more states are preparing to integrate their IDs.
